Methodist University Cape Fear Valley Health School of Medicine

Together, Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Health are taking a monumental stride to advance healthcare education and foster local talent for addressing the region’s healthcare needs. A medical school will improve health outcomes and positively impact the community’s economy.
At peak capacity, the school anticipates supporting approximately 100 full- or part-time faculty, staff, and administrator positions. An additional 1,000 adjunct clinical faculty and up to 300 CFVH Residents to round out students' clinical education in the region.
Your Investment At Work
While Methodist University is leasing the newly constructed educational facility from Cape Fear Valley Health, annual operational and salary expenses are estimated at $60 million.
A comprehensive 15-year proforma projects revenues from tuition, fees, research funding, and ancillary services will exceed expenses in Year 8 after enrollment of the fourth class of students. By Year 14, the medical school will have fully recovered its initial investment costs.
Together, Methodist University and Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation are raising $20 million from philanthropic sources to support startup costs.
Investments from individuals, foundations, and businesses will lead to generations of community-engaged medical doctors attentive to the needs of rural and underserved populations in southeastern North Carolina.
