Jerry Hogge Endowed Scholarship
Mr. Jerry Hogge, a cherished member of our community, dedicated his life to educating and supporting students in their academic pursuits and passion for the golf industry. He is one of the reasons Methodist University’s PGA Golf Management Program and NCAA Division III golf teams are nationally ranked.
In 1987, Jerry joined Methodist University as director of the golf management program in the Reeves School of Business. During his more than three decades at the helm, Jerry led the building of the Downback golf course and the attainment of PGA of America accreditation for the program, all while teaching classes and coaching the women’s golf team.
Not surprisingly, Jerry’s long list of accolades includes induction into the Carolinas PGA Hall of Fame, the PGA of America’s Bill Strausbaugh National Award, the Reeves School of Business University Service Award, and the MU Alumni Association’s Outstanding Faculty Award.
Jerry modestly accepts the acclaim, but his real drive is preparing students for success in golf – as pros, players, accountants, agents, executives, and more. Thanks to his wisdom, leadership, skilled teaching, generations of Methodist students have completed the rigorous program and earned top positions at clubs and companies around the country. He continues mentoring alumni well after they’ve earned their degree and celebrates their success at every turn.
Continuing Jerry Hogge’s Legacy of Supporting Students
More than 97% of MU students rely on financial aid to complete their degree. Once endowed with at least $25,000, the Jerry Hogge Endowed Scholarship will yield up to 4.5% of the fund value for annual financial assistance to generations of Methodist University students.
The Scholarship funds will be awarded annually to Methodist PGA Golf Managements students from those who are recommended by the faculty considering the following criteria:
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Exhibit leadership qualities through participation in school or community activities.
- Show a commitment to community service and volunteer work.
Please make a gift celebrating Mr. Hogge’s monumental impact on students and the broader golf industry. Your support will continue Jerry’s legacy of educating and empowering future leaders.
